My studio is a mess!!

Just imagine what it would look like if a tweed kilt exploded, add to it mustard, turquois and pink leather and bits of funky vintage novelty prints. That's pretty much what my studio looks like right now, getting ready for the holiday season. It's fun to start with great fabric and trim, and experiment with different cuts and designs and make one-of-a-kind pieces.

Come on down to Apt. 3, and check out Beaut's new fall line. The inspiration for this season is my brainiac little sister, who's currently studying at Yale for a Phd in History. It's all about tweed, tailoring and late nights in the library.

Sunshine.

Everyone says the sun shines all the time in LA, but up until today it's been gloomsville. Luckily the sun is now bright in the sky, the palm trees are swaying and there are beautiful people everywhere. I'm beginning to relax into Southern California, and it's starting to look a bit like home.

Goodbye San Francisco

For personal reasons I have decided to move down to Los Angeles. It was definitely a hard decision to make, and I am so sad to be leaving San Francisco. I will miss SF's vitality, beauty and charm.

But don't worry, Beaut is still alive and kicking! In fact, I'll be up in SF many times this Summer and Fall for various Sample sales, trunk sales and Fashion shows. Keep looking at the Blog for news and info.

I will also continue to teach sewing classes in LA. The first beginner class is being held at Millicent gallery in Silverlake. Please email me if you'd like to sign up.

Thank you so much for your support, emails and inspiration. I love you SF!

"Chilliin" at 111 Minna

A few of my friend grumble and kvetch about the upcoming Hallmark holiday, citing its lonely, commercial, guilt-inducing nature. In some ways I have to agree that it's not a good thing if everyone's feeling either rejected or discontented by the forced romanticism of the day. However, if you think of it in terms of kindergarten kids, it's actually quite a nice day. A day when you make cards to tell your classmates that they are special, handing out little sweeties with sassy sayings on them. That's kinda nice-- spreading the love around.

Tonight, 111 Minna is having their weekly 'Chillin at 111' party. Every week they
collect a few good DJ's and feature a number of local designs and have a big
trunk-sale party. This week, Residents Apparel Gallery is going to be in the house, featuring a few fabulous designers including yours truly. Specially for the "Day of Love", I've made up some very racy silk panties and underthings. Oooo laaa laaa...

In the spirit of kindergarten, spread your love around a bit!!!!!

Where: 111 Minna (on the corner of Minna and 2nd street between Mission and Howard)
When: Tuesday Feb 11, from 5-10pm
There is no cover. 21 and up
Also! 3 DJ's spinning and a live Brazillian band.

berlin haus

Bloody hell it's cold in Berlin!!! Visiting the fair city of Berlin right now, and enjoying german hospitality. The art scene is pretty good, and clubbing's interesting because apparenly german's don't dance. East Berlin's fascinating, filled with intrigue and stories. And hearing what rents are is like a stab in the heart coming from san francisco.

Hats!

For those cold San Francisco days, fingerless gloves and warm hats. Our hats are made with recycled natural materials like angora, mohair and cashmere. I find my materials by combing through vintage stores for the softest sweaters. Then, I piece dye item, so they are totally unique and one-of-a-kind.

Hats fit snug to the head, with a cute 1920's cloche style.
